Biography
Winner of the Short & Sweet Festival Auckland 2017 and Hollywood 2018 Julie has been an actor of stage and screen for more than 30 years. She is known for roles on Mercy Peak and Shortland Street, as well as numerous television commercials.
Julie has worked on her voice technique with Sylvia Rands and Cameron Rhodes and studied American accent with Jacque Drew.
While living and working in LA in 2019 she continued her study of American accents with Hollywood dialect coaches Samara Bay and also Jamieson Bryant.
She has always been fascinated with the actors ‘voice’ and every character Julie develops has a ‘voice’ of her own, not only the dialect but also the tone and cadence. For example her work on theatre productions ‘Brassed Off’ ‘Calendar Girls’ and ‘Lockdown in Little Grimley’ allowed her to study the dialects of Lancashire in depth. British born she has a special affinity with English dialects, but has a daily use of the NZ accent.
Julie has a mature, warm and friendly tone and enjoys story telling and reading novels and children’s books. She has worked on a number of Tim Bray’s musical productions for children and she hopes to work on productions like Power Rangers, and has an interest in video games and educational videos. One of her many ambitions is to voice over interesting documentaries.
