Biography
Comedian, Actor & Writer Tom Sainsbury was a nominee for the prestigious Billy T Award in 2019. Nominees are selected for their outstanding comedic talents & exciting potential; qualities which make Tom the perfect partner for social collaborations. Tom specialises in creating original characters, & is a master in placing his unique flavour into campaigns for brands & causes he aligns with.
He came into prominence in 2017 by using Snapchat and short video content to satirise New Zealand politicians. He has since expanded to parodying New Zealanders of all walks of life on his Facebook page. He can cater or originate characters to specific products or causes.
Tom, who is one half of the popular comedic duo 'Parker and Sainsbury', is most well known on social media for his online personalities 'Maz' and 'Gingerbread' along with his impersonations of New Zealand political personalities 'Paula Bennett' and 'Simon Bridges'.
Achievements include winning Playmarket’s 'Young Playwright of the Year' four times, and being a finalist for the 'Bruce Mason Award' and the 'Playmarket New Play Award'. Tom was also the co-writer of the television series 'Super City' for which he has won a SWANZ (Script Writer Awards New Zealand) for Best Comedy Script.
